NY restaurant entrepreneur sets up shop in the Big Mango
Restaurateur, Enrico Malta, has a career that spans 30 years, opening dozens of well know neighborhood restaurants in New York City. Enrico Malta’s NYC Restaurant Group has included Intermezzo, Il Bastardo, Sette, Bocco di Bacco, Puttanesco, and Film Center café.
Enrico now brings his winning formula to South Beach, opening Cara Mia on Alton Road, a well priced Italian bistro decorated in warm tones in décor his fans may recognize; sconces, eight foot tall glass pictures, and tables made from two inch thick antique floors that were plucked from his Film Canter café. You could say, Enrico brought us the best his New York restaurants had to offer.
Cara Mia’s signature dish is the lasagna Bolognese with béchamel sauce, a savory dish made from scratch. A nice sized portion, priced at $12.00, complimented by a glass of Italian red, $6.00, barely made a dent in the wallet. My favorite appetizer was the tuno carpaccio, $12.00, the portion is large enough for two people. It was super fresh, made with sushi grade tuna drizzled with extra virgin olive oil.
So come enjoy the food, people and atmosphere at Cara Mia, which caters to a neighborhood crowd. It’s good for couples, large groups and has comfortable seating at the bar too.
